Report

After deciding to ask for Dr. Bronson's aid in handling the captured Djinn, Augustus and Montgomery realized they had upcoming Business at the Milton, being invited to the xxx-Sterling wedding reception. The investigators decided to visit the exhibition together on that day.

While Augustus and Father O'Shae were still reveling in the festivities, Evelyn and Fred payed the exhibition a visit. Dr. Bronson was not present, but was expected to personally introduce the most prominent artifacts later in the evening. Fred was soon bored of looking at showcase after showcase of Egyptian antiquities and left Dr. Winters behind to find the others at the 2nd floor ballroom and “The Graduate” speakeasy in the basement.

They all managed to meet up at the exhibition to listen to Dr. Bronson's speech at 6pm. Just when the Dr. started to introduce the canopic jar and it's accompanying artifacts the light was shut off and gunshots were fired into the air, causing panic amongst the audience. The surprised guards were knocked down and a woman tried to swipe the canopic jar and merge into the running crowd. But Dr. Bronson interfered causing the jar to break and release its horrid content. Something unspeakable happened to her, captured only by photograph that a press agent shot into the darkness.

The shooting stopped and the perpetrators managed to merge into the crowed heading for the elevators, but Fred and Augustus captured the unsuccessful jar thief in the staircase. Quick questioning revealed that a Mobster named McLoughlin was behind the attempted robbery. Meanwhile Evelyn and Montgomery found the broken canopic jar next to Dr. Bronson's corpse, which seemed to have been drained of all body fluids.

Horrified by the sight, the investigators decided to leave the scene, Augustus down to the speakeasy, the others out of the hotel. However, police had already arrived and kept all guests that hadn't already fled the premises in the building. Fred had some history with Inspector Drummond and hoped that sharing his witness account with him might get the party out of there. After dropping the name McLoughlin, Drummond got interested and sent Fred and Montgomery back up, where they retrieved the camera containing a picture of the crime. The wedding photographer offered to develop the picture after her shift at 11:30pm.

Meanwhile, Dr. Winters questioned a foreign curator about the artifacts of the exhibition and found out Dr. Bronson's room number (1214). On the 12th floor she found police officers already investigation the room an returned to the lobby to wait for the others.

Augustus on the other hand was busy to bury the whole event under more pleasurable memories and brought one of the bride's maids back to his room for a “drink”. While they were getting comfortable on the sofa, he spotted something slithering under the furniture. He knelt down to investigate and his acquaintance screamed and fled in panic as he emerged with a gelatinous creature starting to envelop his head. He managed to rip it off in the nick of time and it fled into the ventilation shaft. Injured, he rejoined the investigators in the lobby to help stop this madness.
